Common Terms of LED Display Screen (2)

1. Viewing Angle
The maximum angle range within which an observer can clearly see the content of the LED display screen, divided into horizontal and vertical viewing angles, with the unit of degrees. LED display screens in public places require a large viewing angle to ensure that audiences at different positions can see a clear, undistorted picture with stable color and brightness.
2. Viewing Distance
The optimal viewing distance between the audience and the LED display screen, which is related to the pitch, size, and resolution. A LED display screen with a small pitch and high resolution can be viewed up close; while an outdoor LED display screen with a large pitch requires a long-distance view. An inappropriate viewing distance will result in a picture with a strong sense of graininess or incomplete display.
3. Refresh Rate
The number of times the LED display screen updates the picture per second, with the unit of hertz. A high refresh rate ensures smooth dynamic pictures. When watching sports events or playing games, there will be no stuttering, flickering, or trailing; a low refresh rate makes the eyes easily fatigued and the picture not smooth.
4. Static Scanning
Each pixel has an independent drive circuit, making the picture stable without flickering or trailing, with high precision. However, the circuit is complex and the cost is high, so it is used for small-sized high-end LED display screens.
5. Dynamic Scanning
Utilizes multiplexing technology to scan and light up pixels row by row or column by column. Relying on the human eye's persistence of vision, the LED display screen appears to be lit up all at once. The circuit is simple and the cost is low, allowing for large LED display screens. However, the refresh rate is limited, and there may be slight flickering and trailing in dynamic pictures, which is commonly used for daily outdoor large LED display screens.
6. SMT (Surface Mount Technology)
Enables high-precision mounting of LED beads on the PCB, improving production efficiency and product reliability, laying the foundation for LED display screen stability.
7. SMD (Surface Mount Device)
Encapsulates LED chips into small devices, optimizing light emission, heat dissipation, and consistency, enhancing the performance of the LED display screen.
8. Moiré Pattern
When photographing an LED display screen, irregular stripes appear due to the interference between the pixel grid of the screen and the camera's sensor. Although it does not affect the normal use of the screen, it reduces the quality of the photographed picture. It can be alleviated by adjusting the shooting angle, camera resolution, or using a professional filter.
9. Contrast Ratio
The ratio of the brightness of the brightest white area to the darkest black area on the screen. A high contrast ratio gives the picture a strong sense of layering, with the bright part dazzling and the dark part deep, making the details clear when watching movies; a low contrast ratio makes the picture gray and the details blurred.
10. Dead Pixel
Individual LED beads on the LED display screen that are out of control, manifested as always on, always off, or flickering, caused by bead quality, welding, and drive circuit problems. A small number can be repaired, but a large number will affect the viewing. When purchasing a LED display screen, pay attention to the manufacturer's control standard for dead pixels.
